Story Telling Judging Criteria:
 
Criteria Evaluation Guide for the Judges
Greeting How well did the participant greet the audience or judges?
Topic  How well did the participant announce the topic?
Completion  Moral, and not abrupt
Focus Focused or Distracted
Speech Clarity / Fluency Evaluate whether the words were clear to the judges
Body Language Using hand motions, moving appropriately
Eye contact Not looking down, engaging
Structure Evaluate whether the story had a good flow, were you able to follow the story?
Story Timing Evaluate whether the participant was able to complete the story effectively within the allocated time (3 to 5 mins)
Effectiveness How effective was the topic and the presentation?
Pace Was the participant talking too fast or too slow?
 
Speech: 6th - 8th Grades (Any topic from The Gospel According to St. Matthew):

Greeting Creative Greeting
Key Points Evaluate whether you were able to identify any key points?
Arguments Evaluate this quality of arguments the speaker used to support his speech
Supporting Evidence Evaluate if/how the speaker used evidences to support his speech
Topic Organization Evaluate how clearly were the speaker’s points connected to each other and the speech’s main idea?
Clarity Did the speaker speak clearly? (were you able to understand without straining?)
Tone Did speaker use Variation in tone and mood to convey meaning effectively?
Speech How effective was the speech?  Did the speaker effectively convey the point across to you?
Body Movements Focussed or Distracted
Facial Expressions Evaluate the participants facial expressions, was he/she happy/sad etc to be telling that story
Eye Contact Did the participant look at different people in the audience or just focussed on one area?
Content Evaluate whether the content had meaning, relevance, strong message etc.
Structure Evaluate whether the story had a good flow, were you able to follow the story?
Timing Evaluate whether the participant was able to complete the story effectively within the allocated time (3 to 5 mins)

March 22nd:
Skit: (Any story from The Gospel According to Matthew): Judging criteria will be provided next week
 
Costume Contest: PreK - 5th Grades (Any person from The Gospel According to St. Matthew): Judging criteria will be provided next week
 
Adult Charades:
Maximum 10 members per Family Unit
Each team will be called on to the stage
There will be 4 rounds: All Chapters from The Gospel According to St. Matthew
Round 1: Person (1 min)
Round 2: Place (1 min)
Round 3: Parable (1 min)
Round 4: Phrase (2 mins)
 
Adult Quiz:
Maximum 10 members per Family Unit
There will be 3 rounds: All Chapters from The Gospel According to St. Matthew except Genealogy
Round 1: 
  • Each team will be asked a question
  • There will be 30 secs to answer 
  • Passing is allowed
  • The question will not be repeated when passing to another team
  • The team who gets a chance to answer as a result of passing from another team should answer the question as soon as they receive the mic
  • Each team will get at least 2 questions 
  • Questions will not be projected so please pay attention
Round 2:
  • This is a written round
  • There will be 10 questions 
  • The time allotted will be 2 minutes
Round 3:
  • Rapid fire round
  • 2 members will be called on to the stage
  • They cannot discuss the answers
  • There will be 10 questions
  • They will have 15 secs to answer each question
  • There is no passing in this round
  • Questions will not be projected so please pay attention
If there is a tie after Adult Charades and Quiz, there will be 2 questions from Genealogy for each team to break the tie.
